Early Customer Program FAQs
- What is the Covad ClearEdge Office Early Customer Program?
Answer: Covad ClearEdge Office is a service specifically designed for small businesses using 1 to 20 phone lines. Covad ClearEdge Office provides your business with integrated voice, data, and local and long-distance calling from one provider, over one connection, for one affordable and predictable monthly fee. Covad wants small businesses like yours to be among the first to preview this new service and provide us with valuable feedback.
- What is the purpose of the Early Customer Program?
Answer: We want to get your direct feedback about all aspects of Covad ClearEdge Office including the installation process, features and value.
- How long will this program last?
Answer: Approximately 10-12 weeks. The Program starts in early June and will conclude no later than September 15, 2006.
- What exactly is the technology used in Covad ClearEdge Office?
Answer: This service is Voice over IP on Covad's managed nationwide broadband network. The voice traffic travels through a quality-controlled, higher priority virtual pipe that is not affected by your data usage.
- Why should I participate? How much will it cost me during the Early Customer Program?
Answer: You will have an opportunity to help Covad refine this new product through your use and feedback! Also, you will not incur any charges for the Voice and broadband service for two months.¹
- Does this service come with unlimited local and long distance calling? International calling?
Answer: Unlimited local and long distance within the U.S. is included. International calling will be charged on a per minute basis. See the International rate sheet for per-minute usage charges.
- Does this Early Customer Program require a contract?
Answer: Yes. Prior to placing your order, you will be required to accept a 12 month contract. However, if you are not completely satisfied at the end of the 60 day Preview period, which starts upon service installation, you may disconnect the voice service without any penalty.
- What are my responsibilities during the Early Customer Program, and how much time will they take?
Answer: We ask that you conduct your business as normal, exactly as you do it today, but using Covad ClearEdge Office. To help us understand your overall experience, we ask that you fill out a feedback form regularly and submit to covadbeta@covad.com to get your feedback on the provisioning and installation process and product features. At the conclusion of the Early Customer Program, we'll conduct a one hour focus group on your overall experience.
- What is local number portability (LNP)?
Answer: LNP allows you to switch your current telephone numbers over to Covad so you can continue receiving calls on your current phone number. The LNP process is managed by Covad. The LNP process will be completed after the installation of the Covad ClearEdge Office service. You will be assigned a temporary number in place of the primary number until the LNP process is complete. During this time, your number will be "remote call forwarded" to allow you to continue to receive calls on your normal phone number. Your number will be ported for the purpose of the Early Customer Program. Also during this transition, you must maintain your current phone service at your own expence.
- Can I drop out of the Early Customer Program at any point?
Answer: Barring problems with the service, we would prefer that you plan to use Covad ClearEdge Office for the duration of the program. If you have a move planned in the near future, or any other interruption in your normal business that may prevent you from participating fully, we ask that you inform us so that we can best determine if this program is right for your situation.
- If I like Covad VoIP Office, can I keep it? What's the pricing after the Early Customer Program period?
